RE-UP: Jimi Hendrix "Scandinavia volume 2" - 6CD

Description
A 6 CD Collectors Numbered Limited Edition. Officially licensed from the Michael Jeffery Estate, and individually numbered, only 2000 copies world-wide.

Scandinavia had proved to be an extremely positive and fertile market for the music of Jimi Hendrix. This boxed set contains recordings from two specific tours and although there is only twelve months between the two sets of concerts captured here much had happened to Jimi between the two tours.

The 1969 tour finds Jimi and the Experience heading out on what would be the original Experience’s final tour. The second series of recordings, drawn from 1970, found the band (often billed as the Experience but featuring Jimi, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox) fresh from the previous day’s massive Isle Of Wight concert performing the first of these concerts in Stockholm. Jimi Hendrix however would be dead in just over two weeks after commencing this brief Scandinavian tour which followed as series of concerts in Germany that had ended in disarray. The two concerts featured in this boxed set of recordings do capture the essence of Jimi Hendrix live and certainly do not show any lessening in his talent either as a song writer or performer and for this reason these recordings are important.

RE-UP: Jimi Hendrix "Scandinavia volume 1" - 6CD

JIMI HENDRIX and the Experience - Scandinavia Vol.1 (6 CD Limited Edition Box Set)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Presented here are complete concerts sourced from amateur recordings with the exception of the 5th September live radio show which is now in improved sound quality over its previous
release on Stages. What you will hear on these concerts from Sweden and Denmark is the raw energy of those early shows and the excitement of fans perhaps seeing Jimi for the first time
and being blown away by the Experience. You will hear what they heard; you will become part of the audience, you will share their Experience. For us, this more than makes up for what it
might lack in recording quality; we believe these tapes have adequate clarity and deserve release on their own merit. You will also hear occasional problems that Jimi faced with the mismatch
of volume levels between voice and instruments due to inadequate, low-powered public address systems for his vocals and sometimes unreliable guitar amplifiers. Although on first glance the
set-lists look repetitive, one has to bear in mind that Jimi never played the same song in the same way twice. He liked to keep things fresh and was a master of improvisation, hence his love of
jamming.

RE-UP: Jimi Hendrix "Rare Performances and Jam Sessions" - 3CD

Rare Performances And Jam Sessions
(WatchTower WT 2005146/7/8 / 2005 / 3CD)
[Digital clone of original disc]

(Club Filips, Stockholm 07.09.67 [Hansson & Karlsson Jam] (Sample Tape) / New York City, NY early 1968 [from "The 2nd 10.000 Dollar Tape Sample"] / Cafe Au Go-Go, New York City, NY 17.03.68 / Home recording, spring 1968 / Drake Hotel Demos, New York City, NY apr.1968 / Unidentified New York City Night Club apr.1968 / Generation Club, New York City, NY 15.04.68 [Jam with B.B.King] / Record Plant, New York City april 1968 (Interview by Michael Rosenbaum) plus Outtakes & Jams 1969-70)

notes:
- Most of the jams and sessions that are featured in this set are incomplete.
- It has not been 100% verified that the Hansson & Karlsson jam portion included in this set is the "real deal", and that these recordings do in fact feature Jimi Hendrix. The complete recording of the Hansson & Karlsson jam from Club Filips, Stockholm 07.09.67 allegedly runs for 4 hr 15 min but remain unreleased / uncirculated.
- The so-called "10.000 Dollar Tape" is a Reel to Reel Tape that was offered for sale on e-bay mid-2002 for $10.000, and later aquired by Experience Hendrix. The Sample tape featured here was made and distributed for demonstration purposes only, so it just consists of fragments of the full tape; Brief snippets of songs that fade in and out, and start and stop abrubtly. The Complete tape is currently not in circulation.
- Refer to Jimpress issue 74, p.31-35 & Jimpress issue 76, p.55-59 for additional info regarding the "10.000 Dollar Tape" Sample.

RE-UP: Jimi Hendrix "Let's Drop Some Ludes & Vomit With Jimi" - 1CD - various outtakes

Jimi Hendrix
Let's Drop Some Ludes & Vomit With Jimi
The Record Plant Jams Vol. 2
artwork includedMidnight Beat# MB CD 026

01. Driving South / Everything's Gonna Be Alright
02. Drone Blues
03. Easy Blues
04. Strato Strut
05. I'm A Man - Instrumental
06. I'm A Man - With Vocals
07. Instrumental Jam - Embryonic Version Of Tomorrow Never Knows

Record Plant jams, and some damn good ones, too! In fact, it's
subtitled "Record Plant Jams Vol.2" (although Strato Strut was recorded
at Electric Lady).

1. Drivin South/Everything's Gonna Be Alright
The jam with John McLaughlin (you can barely hear him) -- as in any jam,
parts are absolutely ferocious, and other parts bog down with uninspired
noodling, but the sound quality is great. Sounds almost as if it was
recorded outdoors!

2. Drone Blues
Despite the track listing, this is actually a tryout version of Night Bird
Flying, without vocals. Sound quality is good here, too, and there are some
smokin' guitar solos.

3. Easy Blues
A more complete version of the track that was on Nine to the Universe.
Larry Lee plays on this one (as well as Jimi of course) -- a cool, loping
blues.

4. Strato Strut
Not Strato Strut at all, but Drone Blues, I believe. An uptempo instrumental.

5. I'm A Man (instrumental)
Part of a jam with Buddy Miles (no bass player at all), in which parts
sound like Calling All Devil's Children.

6. I'm A Man (with vocals)
An early tryout/jam of Stepping Stone.

7. Instrumental Jam
Listed as "Embryonic version of Tomorrow Never Knows", this is a long
meandering jam -- there are two guitars here but I'm not sure who the
second guitarist might be.
